San Francisco Giants
“IT DOESN’t GET MORE SF”

PART 1: IF THEY WEREN’T PLAYERS, THEY WOULD BE FANS

For over 60 years, the Giants have embodied everything that makes San Francisco unique. And 2018’s team was no exception.

PART 2: PRIDE

For nearly two decades, MLB teams have hosted promotional days to celebrate their LGBTQIA2S+ community.

This typically involves an LGBTQIA2S+ dignitary throw out the first pitch or sing the national anthem. They fill team store shelves with merchandise that includes rainbow colors. Sometimes club officials express their support in pregame speeches or videos. But rarely, if ever, do the players participate.

On Saturday, June 5th 2021, for the first time in MLB history, the players were involved. The San Francisco Giants, playing against the Chicago Cubs at home, debuted hats with Pride colors in their logo and a Pride-colored “SF” patch on their jerseys, an unprecedented on-field expression of support for LGBTQIA2S+ community — and one that required the participation of the players.

SF Giants players not only won the game (4-3 GO GIANTS!) but also showed their support for LGBTQIA2S+ community and continued embodying everything that makes San Francisco, San Francisco.
